What’s an AVC ID?
Your AVC ID is a unique number used to identify specific nbn® connections. They’re provided to telcos by nbn co.
Every single active broadband connection on the nbn network has its own AVC ID. The nbn connection at your home or workplace will have an AVC ID. If you move house or change service provider, your new connection will have a different AVC ID to specify that particular connection.
AVC ID stands for ‘access virtual circuit identifier’.
What does an AVC ID look like?
An AVC ID is a 15-character code (AVC followed by 12 numbers).
For example, AVC000123456789.
Why do I need an AVC ID?
From April 2025, when you’re changing nbn providers, your new provider will ask for the AVC ID of your current connection to help make the change simple and smooth.
Your provider and nbn may also use the AVC ID of your connection when troubleshooting any issues that pop up with your internet service.
Where can I find the AVC ID for my nbn connection?
You can find the AVC ID for your Belong internet connection in two places:
Your Belong account. You’ll see it alongside your nbn connection in your list of services.
Your invoice. Check out this support article about reading your internet bill for more info.
If you’re moving to Belong from another internet provider, check with them if you need help finding your current AVC ID.
What are AVC IDs used for?
Basically, AVC IDs help nbn co and telcos avoid making mistakes.
From April 2025, when an nbn connection is being established, AVC IDs will help nbn co identify the service, sort out any issues, and do any troubleshooting they need to do.
If a single property has multiple nbn connections (e.g. apartment buildings, office buildings), AVC IDs are used to distinguish different connections.
