Can someone else help manage my account?

Information on authorised representatives, advocates and unlisted authorities

If you need someone else to help with your day-to-day account management, there are a few ways to do it. Which one you choose will depend on your circumstances.

Authorised representatives

An authorised representative is someone other than the account owner who can make certain changes to an account.

Things an authorised representative can do

An authorised representative can do some of the things the account holder can do, including:

  • downgrade your plan

  • disconnect a service

  • pay bills and make billing and usage enquiries

  • update their own contact details/personal details

  • raise faults and complaints

  • report and suspend a lost or stolen device

  • view account information and all associated services

  • reschedule an appointment and/or connection date (where there’s no charge to do so)

  • unblock a SIM

  • remove themselves as an authorised person

Things an authorised representative can’t do

An authorised representative can’t:

  • change the personal details of other contacts

  • add/update the payment method

  • upgrade or add a service

  • activate a service

  • add/remove other authorised contacts

  • move a service

  • change a number

  • replace a SIM

  • block a SIM

  • reconnect a service

  • change the ownership of the service

  • access account interaction information

How to add an authorised representative

An authorised representative must be over 18, and the account owner must authenticate their account, then give us permission to add the authorised representative to it. To add an authorised person:

  • Call us on (8am-8pm, 7 days)

  • Use the chat box in the bottom-right corner of this page

Advocates

An advocate is someone who’s there to help you when you contact Belong. They can’t make decisions on your behalf and they can’t access your account information – so you’ll need to be with them when they contact us to authorise any changes. An advocate could be:

  • an interpreter

  • a financial counsellor

  • a legal aid representative

  • a friend or family member

Unlisted authorities

An unlisted authority is someone who’s been legally appointed to help with the management of your accounts. This includes:

  • Power of Attorney

  • Enduring Power of Attorney

  • guardians or carers

  • trustees

  • administrators

  • legal representatives

  • executors of a deceased estate

An unlisted authority can do most of the things an account holder can, except:

  • adding/remove authorised representatives

  • change the personal details of other contacts

  • change the account owner

  • access account interaction information

How to add an unlisted authority

To become an unlisted authority, you may need to provide some supporting documentation, such as:

  • a Power of Attorney document

  • a death certificate

If you’ve been asked to provide this information, you can send it to F1602098@team.telstra.com
