3G closure instructions for BlindShell users

What to do before 31 August

If you use a BlindShell phone, there are two things you need to do before 31 August to make sure your phone will work as normal after the 3G closure.

  1. Turn on mobile data

  2. Update your operating system

How to turn on mobile data

  1. From the home screen, press the down bar until you hear Settings. Then, press the confirm button (that’s the round button you use to answer a call).

  2. Press the down bar until you hear Networks. Then, press the confirm button.

  3. Press the down bar until you hear Mobile network. Then, press the confirm button.

  4. When you hear Mobile data, press the confirm button.

  5. When you hear Mobile data switch, press the confirm button.

  6. If you hear Turn off mobile data not selected, there’s nothing you need to do. But if you hear Turn off mobile data selected, this means you need to turn mobile data on. Use the down bar until you hear Turn on mobile data not selected. Press the confirm button, and you should hear Turn on mobile data selected.

  7. Long press the back button (that’s the round button you use to end a call) to return to the home screen.

How to update your operating system

  1. From the home screen, press the down bar until you hear Settings. Then, press the confirm button (that’s the round button you use to answer a call).

  2. Press the down bar until you hear System update. Then, press the confirm button.

  3. When you hear Check for updates, press the confirm button.

  4. If you hear information about the new version 5.2, press the down bar until you hear Download now. Then, press the confirm button.

  5. You will hear some download updates. When you hear Download completed, do you want to install the update? Press the confirm button.

  6. Your phone will reset and restart. You might hear a different voice during this process. It will go back to normal once your phone restarts. When it does, you will be using the new operating system.
